This weeks Pimpashirt release is a special edition – by popular demand we are featuring our very first tutorial pimpashirt. That’s right, the music got turned off and the mic is on. We are teaching you how to customize hats.
For those of you who already have your own business or for those of you that are thinking of starting one – you’re gonna love this style of post which will be featured somewhere around once every 12 weeks. The video collection at the end of this post will teach you the basics of customizing hats to go along with the shirts you wear or are selling. Please feel free to comment if you love it or hate it – we want your feedback.
And as you’ll notice in the video, we (meaning Imprintables Warehouse) are giving away the 3 cap presses on t-shirtforums.com. Visit t-shirtforums and become a member (tell them pimpashirt sent you). It’s free and a great community to learn about everything that is apparel decorating. Joining and posting will allow you to potentially be eligible for giveaways as they are sponsored….
Enjoy the videos – we will draw a name or two from our subscriber list to win a free hat customized with an initial of their choice as shown in the photo above.

Excellent videos. Heat press caps is something I need to add to my business now rather than later.
So informative–(love the ‘adjustable pencil’ jig). Answered lots of questions I had. How do I find the contest at T-shirt forums? Would LOVE to have a cap press to supplement my equipment.THANKS for the info!
The giveaway should be posted sometime this week on t-shirtforums, I will provide a link in the comments here when it’s launched.
Great set up . Cantwait to get a cap press (cant await-to press) ha ha ha .
This was a GREAT post/video. I have been thinking about adding a cap press to my flat press for some time now. Watching this video definitely confirms that it would be a very beneficial addition. I’m looking forward to the contest and, hey, if I don’t win one, I need to get with it and buy one! Thanks, guys!
Great tutorial Josh. I have been contemplating adding a cap press to my business. Your videos have helped me make the decision. I can’t wait to get one and start doing imprinted caps.
Great video. A couple of questions.
You added foam to the platen you used on the center press. Why did you need to do this & what material did you use?
Do the presses come with all of the different size platens? If not, can you specify which platen you want?
Yes you can specify the platens you want – we have a promo running now where you get 3 platens with the press and the pad. The pad just helps whne the cap has a fused backing and your press is leaving a crease in the hat. We raised the print area to absorb the pressure and alleviate the area that was creasing.
Great video, Josh! One of the most informative so far!
Josh,
Thanks again for the very informative video posted for this week. Now I have a better idea to decorate caps as well as the different resources there are available for printers. Great job!
Hello Josh,
Thank you for posting the videos. I was considering adding a Cap Press to my business but I wasn’t certain if it would be a profitable investment. Watching your tutorial answered that question along with its ease of use.
Great Job
Josh
You continue to amaze me. I would definately like to add a heat press. So many ways to print money (by not printing money — of course). Keep the good times rolling.
Thanks for the great iideas again.
Cool real cool I thick I could do this.we are going to add a p press to our signs.
This helped a lot. I have a cap press that has been sitting for six months because I wasn’t sure how well the HT Vinyl would work on it, but now I know.
Where can I get some of the heat resistant rubber? I checked my platen on a “Flex-Fit” hat and it doesn’t fit at all.
Thanks for the vid’s!
Scooter
you can buy a print perfect pad from Imprintables or Stahls – or even use a mousepad cut to size.
Great video you guys !
I bought a used Hix a month ago and I was wondering where I can get replacement platens or even that heat resistant rubber like someone else asked before.
For the platens you’ll have to check with Hix to see if they sell or a dealers sells compatible ones – for the pad check out Imprintables.com or Stahls.com or use a cut mousepad.
wow man u guys so soo cool,!!!!!
Thanks everyone else for the great comments!!!
Josh,
Is it possible to heat press a transfer image onto those trucker hats that have a poly foam front panel (mesh on back) or will the foam melt? Do I have to use the cotton kind instead?
