Last week’s Pimpashirt was given to Maleec our guest DJ and designer in exchange for the instrumental he provided – if you know a DJ, music artist or producer that would be willing to trade a fast paced instrumental in exchange for a customized tee let us know.  Coming soon will be music from the Flight Squad.  We have instrumentals in hand from the Flight Squad and will be pimping shirts to their beats in the coming weeks.

Now onto this weeks shirt….

This is one where the artwork is something that anyone can create, but yet to us the finished result is blazin’hot.  It’s oversized text plastered onto the front of the shirt, as BIG as we could get it (and still fit it on our heat press).  For the message we dug back into the lyrics of a popular rap group the Gravediggaz.  One of the members of the Gravediggaz , the RZA utilized self created acronyms to finish his rhymes in various songs.  The one we feature today is an acronym for PEACE found at the end of RZA’s verse on the song ‘Constant Elevation”.  Rza completes his verse - ”Positive Energy Activates Constant Elevation, Positive Energy Activates Constant Elevation.”  In other words PEACE.

Thats the message and the influence, now how do we translate it into a hot t-shirt design?

With this Pimpashirt, #13 – we introduce a new style of vinyl to hit the US marketplace, material that is long overdue and has been popular in the streetwear market throughout Europe for quite some time – Glossy Heat Press Vinyl.  And to keep things fresh we don’t stop there.  We can’t just pimpashirt with Gravediggaz lyrics and a glossy finish vinyl and just stop there  - we must do more.

So we did a little more, we picked out the red gloss vinyl for the letters PEACE placed vertically down the side of the shirt and then picked out a black gloss vinyl for the remainder of the text and smashed it all on a black t-shirt for a classic tone on tone finish, like black patent leather on a pair of black Jordans with red laces the look is clean and simplistic but jumps off the canvas (our t-shirt) just like the RZA did with the Gravediggaz in 1994.

Enjoy this week’s photos and video and be sure to watch the video closely.  We added in our first stunt (a somersault) just because it felt like the right thing to do at the time.
